The School of Religious and Pastoral Education is an initiative of the Dominican Institute, Samonda, Ibadan, which for almost a quarter of a century has provided qualitative philosophical and theological formation for both the Church and society in Nigeria and in Africa as a whole. This initiative is part of the Institute’s commitment towards expanding its qualitative intellectual formation to accommodate the needs of priests, religious men and women, and the lay faithful who are desirous of sound and continuous theological, pastoral and spiritual formation.
The different short programmes are, therefore, designed to bring the Institute’s renowned theological programs to the doorsteps of many individuals who yearn for sound theological education but are unable, for different reasons, to engage in longtime or in situ studies. Taking advantage of the enormous opportunities offered by modern Information and Computer Technology (ICT), the Dominican Institute desires to share its rich intellectual tradition with a much wider audience by offering a very flexible learning program, which nonetheless, retains the rigor, depth and quality for which the Dominican Institute is well known.
